Description:
Jackson Rathbone and his band 100 Monkeys have been drawing huge crowds on Tuesdays at Boudreaux and Thibodeaux in downtown Baton Rouge. This week (11.24.10), there was no cover charge, but missing band members and a shortened set of only four songs left hordes of eager Twilight fans puzzled and screaming for more. The band's publicist, Lani Sarem, was on hand and said that the short set and missing band members were due to short notice (cast filming in Brazil last week) and Jackson's busy schedule. The band is based in LA, and consists mostly of old high-school buddies of Rathbone's. The music is a mix of acoustic alt/folk/rock led by Rathbone's vocals and guitar, while band members often seamlessly switch instruments and vocal leads. Jackson and other members of the band posed briefly for photos with fans after the show. ------------- Off the record - the music was not awe-inspiring, to say the least. Jackson does not belong on a drum, and his guitar playing and singing are so-so. Classic case of famous guy and old friends along for the ride if you ask me. The bar was amazing though, I'd say about a 15 to 1 chick/dude ratio, so I met some new friends.
